About

What can I say? Thirty-nine and still not too many accomplishments, I suspect my life truly does begin at Forty! I’ve managed to avoid joining any mainstream political parties, not really hard, I do live in the UK after all, nothing logical to choose from. I’m presently finishing up a MSc in Education for Sustainability, my next academic movement will hopefully be over to France and join the research within Cirad. I’m not in the habit of just day dreaming about my future goals, I usually achieve what I set my mind to, so if it’s written consider it as good as done, I’d make a shit MP.

So where are my ethics and values? At the moment I’m a Humanitarian/Humanist/Ecologist/Sustainer but as my mind opens further the less I feel I need to explain my positioning, you will work it out from just what I do, as opposed to my needing to box myself on greeting. My values come from the seven criteria of life, most importantly we have a right to eat, to education and to have suitable shelter. My ethic is that we acquire these rights not at the cost of others and especially not from those that need it most by means of manipulative exploitation, but recognise that what is and should be at the heart of all cultures is production and how we can sustain this for all to live with growth.

I’m not a skeptic when it comes to Climate Change, of course it’s changing there is plenty of historical and present proof of this, I’m also not going to waste my time in arguing this, as we are running out of it. My interest lies in how we cope as a society with the changes that are occurring. The realities are clear, our resources are running out and we need to find new forms of energy in order to help humans continue to exist. Mind you with the amount of warring that goes on amongst us, I do often wonder why I’m bothering…but I do. As we all know one of the major reasons wars occur is because of the depletion of raw materials, war causes most of the displacement coupled with climate change. If we start to source new renewable energy’s, this could slow down this constant, maybe giving us enough time to develop the areas that need it.

There are countries that need help stabilising economically and environmentally.  I am far from suggesting the richer countries take over the running of those countries but to merely use their academics to find sustainable solutions. This in the long run will reduce the aid given from those countries.  Aid does not help in the long term, it oppresses. Imagine a world without the IMF or DFID? That would make a lot of people happy….A LOT!

So that’s me at the moment and this blog will act as a diary for my research over the following years, or I might get a life and go out and talk to people….. but it’s doubtful.
